Dakar Boutique Inc. Celebrates New Partnership & Unveils International Launch Event.

If you spot a fabulous, never before seen head wrap with a tilted bow-like structure to the side of a tall chocolate lady, you might indeed have spotted the dynamic Fashion Designer, Photographer and Boutique Curator, Diarra Bousso.

Diarra Bousso

Diarra is the founder and CEO of Dakar Boutique Inc. and recently hosted a private sale for partner brand DIGS in Soho, during the New York Fashion Week .

Diarra Bousso presented to the New York fashion scene the new partnership between Dakar Boutique Inc. and DIGS as she hosted a private sale and red carpet event at the Soho Location. Notables included Andrew Dosunmu (YSL, Vogue, TED), Snapette, In Market NYC, MediAfritiQ and several New York fashion bloggers.

Can you spot your editor and Fashion contributor in the video below? :-)  It was a fun evening, very educative with regards to the  Senegalese fashion scene in New York and of course lots wine, cheese and presents. If you haven’t visited DIGS boutique you must. Their clothing collection is unique, contemporary and of exceptional quality, with fabric and items from Europe, Africa and beyond. However, do not expect to find your Ankara, beads, figurines etc. That is where Dakar Boutique comes in.

Dakar Boutique used this opportunity to officially announce its international launch party and debut runway show titled African Voyage, which will take place this summer somewhere in Africa. All guests left with a Dakar Boutique gift bag filled with premium goodies such as raw tribal prints, handmade leather wallets, necklaces and handcrafted wooden artwork from Senegal.

She will finally take them on a voyage by boat to a few islands in West Africa where she will host her debut runway show.

More About Dakar Boutique Inc.

Founded by Senegalese fashion designer and photographer Diarra Bousso, Dakar Boutique is an international online shopping website featuring several international designers but also her own collections. Diarra’s vision was to build a brand inspired by her travels and focused on three main elements: tribal prints, colors and detail.
Born in Dakar, Senegal, Diarra moved to Norway at age 16 and later to the United States at 18. Upon completion of a degree in Economics she went on to start a career on Wall Street but soon enough realized she belonged to the world of the arts and launched the online platform www.dakarboutique.com along with her fashion brand db (Diarra Bousso). Diarra is also a photographer and blogger atwww.revesdores.com, French for golden dreams, and attends major fashion events as a guest blogger. She recently covered over 15 shows during New York Fashion Week including BCBG, Herve Leger, Louise Amstrup and Misha Nonoo among others.
When asked about what db means to her, Diarra responds: ‘The db style was really inspired by my background and travels. I grew up in Senegal, lived in Norway, Minnesota and New York. I have travelled a lot across Europe, the US and the Carribean and my designs take bits and pieces from all my experiences to suit any world-class shopper. When I think about db, the words that come to mind are chic, sophisticated, eclectic, vintage, tribal, exotic, minimalistic yet relatable to anyone. I think it is only natural to say that db was the translation of my golden dreams into wearable art.’
During New York Fashion Week, Dakar Boutique’s designs were featured in Street Style publications in several magazines including Glamour magazine, Vogue Italia and In Style NYC among others.
